Now these are tremolos I can get behind. Third Chamber are basically a death metal supergroup and that’s a fair enough status considering the calibre of this EP. They’re somewhere between pure Cannibal Corpse and Knocked Loose, which as you can imagine is very intense and diverse. Harvesting Out Decay is pretty much the kinder surprise egg of death metal. This year has been incredible and if you’ve been reading for a bit now then you’ve seen me become increasingly excited about metal over the course of 2019. I was starting to think it may slump then I started getting some really good submissions from very talented bands putting out music towards the end of the year. Death Metal, black metal and hardcore have been insane this year and so has sludge but until today I didn’t realise I was missing something that I fondly remember having last year – A solid and true to form post hardcore album in the visage of bands like Boss-De-Nage or Birds In Row. Album Review: Unfathomable Ruination – Enraged And Unbound 9.5 (Brutal Death)

Well this is a hit, there’s death metal for the whole family on Enraged and Unbound, the dad and uncle that still listen to The Big 4 and Morbid Angel, the the older son who likes it a bit more technical, and the youngest of the children becka with the Disentomb tee who likes it fucking dank and filthy. It has guest vocals by death metal growlers Julien Truchan from Benighted and Sven de Caluwé from Aborted. The album art is a work made by the incredible Eliran Kantor. Album Review: Abu Ghraib – Enhanced Torture Techniques 8.7 (Grindcore)

It’s stupid how fast this grindcore is, its speedgrind. Overall I’m super impressed with Abu Ghraib as an Australian band, I originally found out about them by scouring the Metal Archives for hours searching by Australia for the Heavypedia project. I encountered Abu Ghraib and their band photo was so funny and endearing I ended up saving it “for later” which I guess is now because they’ve released a massive grind album that surpasses even their sublime memery in ability and entertainment. Micro Dose: Canyon Of The Skull – The Sins Of The Past (Post/Doom)

There’s been some solid instrumental albums released in 2019 and that’s going to continue right to the end of the year with the third album from American doomers Canyon Of The Skull titled Sins Of The Past. It contains a compelling and long two tracks, the first track titled “The Ghost Dance” (Basically half of the album) is streaming on bandcamp right now. It should speak to the hearts of Bongripper fans and anyone living that doom life. Who needs vocals? Micro Dose: Munt – Towards Extinction (Black/Grind)

Munt sit in an extremely niche style of extreme metal, I niche I enjoy quite a lot. That is blackened deathgrind. The most easily recognizable example of this genre is probably Full Of Hell. It combines the raw intensity and speed of grind with the overbearing evil murky atmosphere of black metal.

The vocals here sound fucking ungodly dude. It’s these evil high pitched black metal screams that are just as sporadic and intense as the blasting drums. In true grind fashion this is ruthlessly heavy, not once does it let up. Definitely good stuff. […]
