Interview: Mother Of All (Progressive Death Metal, Denmark)

A couple of weeks ago, I covered the best new death metal album you haven’t heard yet, Age Of The Solipsist by Mother Of All, the Danish solo project’s first full length record. Age Of The Solipsist arrives to us officially on June 11th. The album is very eclectic as far as genres go, and the performances on the record are exceptional all around. The mastermind behind Mother Of All is Martin Haumann, today I’ll be bringing him on to dig deeper into the record! […]

Album Review: Feed Them Death – “Negative” 8.6 (Deathgrind)

If there’s any band out there that’s long overdue for a Noob Heavy feature, it’s Feed Them Death. Not only is this the third fantastic project they’ve released since contacting me in early 2020, but Void – the man behind Feed Them Death – also owns a record label called Brucia Recorrds that consistently releases some of the most abrasive avant-garde metal known to man. So yeah, it’s safe to say this one has been a long time coming. […]

Album Review: Sleep Terror – “Above Snakes” 8.5/10 (Prog Death)

I’ve covered 70 albums on this site, give or take a few, and this is the first instrumental record I’ve ever talked about. That’s not because I dislike instrumental music, I actually listen to a fair bit of it, it just usually doesn’t leave me with enough to say for a full review. This album, on the other hand, is batshit fucking insane. So much so, that I bought a CD copy directly after hearing it. […]

Album Review: Mother Of All – “Age Of The Solipsist” 8.2/10 (Prog Death)

This is one of the most interesting death metal records I’ve heard in a while, and it comes out on April 23rd! Before I dive into the sound, let’s dig into this wild lineup first. Technically, Mother Of All is a solo project, with Martin Haumanm at its helm. Martin Haumaan is a Danish man who has spent the majority of his career drumming, most notably playing live drums for Afsky and Myrkur, he flexes his vocals with this project along with his drumming! For this record he’s recruited the help of guitarist Frederick Jensen, and on bass, he has none other than Steve DiGiorgio, legendary Death and Testament bassist. […]

Album Review: Karma Violens – “Mount of the Congregation” 8/10 (Blackened Death)

This might sound a little cheesy, but there are some albums that come along and make me think, “This is exactly what metal is supposed to sound like.” The atmosphere, the guitars, and the vocals all scream metal… without actually having to say it like some cringey limp dick power metal band. These albums are the epitome of metal to me, I felt this way about the new Raider album last year, and I’m thinking we may have another case of that here from Greek blackened death metal band Karma Violens. […]

Album Review: Obvurt – “The Beginning” 8.2/10 (Brutal Death)

When thinking of genres that don’t really see much innovation, brutal death metal may be somewhere near the top of your list, and for good reason. I like brutal death metal, it’s a fine genre, but it’s not one that’s really adventurous. It’s gory, meat and potatoes, punishing death metal 99% of the time, which is fine, but it’s the bands that can think outside of that box that end up being memorable in the long run. […]

Album Review: Brand Of Sacrifice – “Lifeblood” 8/10 (Deathcore)

Whether you like deathcore or not, it’s pretty easy to see that the genre isn’t exactly in its heyday right now, and there’s a couple of reasons for that. Almost all of the biggest bands in the genre have either fallen from grace or faded from the limelight. That leaves fans looking for the next big thing, and unfortunately they aren’t really getting it, because young bands are really struggling with innovation. It is of my opinion that the band currently carrying the whole fucking scene on their back is Brand of Sacrifice, here’s why. […]
