Album Review: Sutrah – Aletheia 10 (Progressive Death)

I have listened to this album so damn much, every time I open my promo library I just have to hear it again. I’m addicted to it. It does so much in the perfect amount of time, 28 minutes of thoughtful, creative and powerful song writing. It has top notch presentation, production and it’s full of ideas that I find moving or stimulating. The artwork, which is among the top I’ve seen this year, is basically depicting me each time I had a revelation about Aletheia while listening. […]

Noob Advice: Getting The Most Out Of Bandcamp

Bandcamp is my favorite platform when researching for my articles and easily the best for underground metal of all subgenres and locations. It has many tools to provide bands and consumers. It saddens me however to see many bands not getting the full potential out of what it has to offer and not gaining any supporters. So this article aims to help bands improve their Bandcamp game, which will in turn improve their publicity and fanbase. Bandcamp is literally a promo pack, music platform, merch store and network hub in one. It’s incredible. It even has built in advertising campaigns and algorithms. […]

Album Review: The Motion Mosaic – Avant-Garbage 9.2 (Mathcore)

I’m a huge fan of post hardcore and mathcore, sometimes it even threatens to overcome even my love of metal. This is the second major release from The Motion Mosaic following up their 2016 album Samsara which is well worth a listen but is a very different release, a different part of the bands development. The ideas and experimentation are there but are looser. Now with Avant-Garbage they’ve tightened it up and turned it on it’s head. There’s nothing loose about it, this is a hard hitting yet elegant core album with all the makings of an end of year list candidate. […]

Album Review: Sepultura – Quadra 8 (Thrash Metal)

Sepultura has always been a staple in metal, particularly thrash metal, since their conception in the early 1980’s where they were the sound of metal in Brazil and among the few who could compete with the metal scene growing – maybe even unproportionally – in the world-renowned Bay Area, with such acts as Exodus, Metallica, Testament, Death Angel, Megadeth and Blind Illusion. The original line-up of the band, with Cavalera Brothers, is still highly idolized and their work is often deemed superior to the more recent offerings of the band. I, admittedly, was one such person. Well I was until I heard this new release. I’m not saying The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart and Machine Messiah were inherently weak performances, I’m just saying this work is a cut above them. […]

Album Review: Azoth – Magnitude of Extinction 9.5 (Post Black)

Azoth is an impressive post black metal project from Portland, Oregon. The project is a collaboration with members from Sól, Vitriol, and others. They surprised us in the early 2020s with their album Magnitude of Extinction which contained five amazing songs. Different from other black metal bands, they package the song in an unusual way – they combine the elements of post rock and noise rock on this album. […]

Microdose: Annihilator, Vvilderness, Moongates Guardian & Dark Matter

Four great albums, four short reviews. This time however it’s all picks and opinions of Noob Heavy writer Mass from Iran who has some interesting tastes and takes. Most of his listening pool is everything I haven’t heard of from places I don’t often hear from so expect some esoteric sounds to western ears as well as ruthless takes on those we are familiar with. Haha, love it. Also he gets his own format for it. […]

Carcassbomb's Reviews

Microdose: Chrome Ghost, Major Kong, Zyclops & Swamplord

Four great albums, four shorts reviews, as always. This time though, it’s four doom ass albums so you’ll want to collect them all. Four very distinct flavors from all over the world, and mostly trios… why are stoners/doomers always hanging out in threes? Now you also don’t HAVE TO tilt your phone because the images are all on the same side, in theory. […]

Album Review: Symbolik – Emergence 9.3 (Melodic Tech Death)

An album a decade in the making and carrying influences from across a length of time, making for a pretty unique combination of melodic death metal and technical death metal, though with a blackened touch. The riffs on this one are addictive and varied but never without a sense of outlandish melody. This one will absolutely slap your ears about and demand many listens. Emergence comes out on the 10th of April. […]
