Heavy news by Carcassbomb
Behold my ability to repost a press release from Napalm Records. I know a lot of you will be interested in this one because like myself you all enjoy Candlemass, even 36 years into their career. If you haven’t seen these music videos, then you might as well. One of them features Tony Iommi. As someone who is quite anti-social, to a fault, I dig live streamed concerts. I mean I’d rather watch the legends from home regardless of concerts because I’ll never be able to afford tickets close enough to the front.
Taking Place Friday, July 3 at 8:00 PM CEST/2:00 PM EDT

CANDLEMASS will perform selections from their renowned catalog – including tracks from their recent album The Door To Doom and EP The Pendulum – and have hinted at trying out new material as well.
Bassist Leif Edling says:
“Most of our live gigs during 2020 have been cancelled or moved to a later date in 2021. A disappointing fact for both fans and band, so we’re very happy to announce that CANDLEMASS will perform live to give you all an evening of Epic Doom ‘N Gloom very soon! I got some really cool riffs that would be great to jam away on that evening. Why not offer the fans something new that nobody ever heard before? Make the livestream a bit more interesting.”
CANDLEMASS’ latest full-length, the Marcus Jidell-produced The Door To Doom, follows the plot line mastermind, songwriter and bass player Leif Edling established in the past years: epic world class doom metal that relies on slow mammoth riffing. The album features the Grammy-nominated track “Astorolus – The Great Octopus”, featuring legendary Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. CANDLEMASS swiftly followed up in March 2020 with their latest EP, The Pendulum, featuring a fine selection of never-before-heard, unused tracks cut from the The Door To Doom recording sessions. The Pendulum perfectly showcases that these timeless Swedish pioneers are the undisputed kings of epic doom, featuring singles “The Pendulum” (listen HERE) and “Porcelain Skull” (listen HERE). Leading the listener through a maze of frenzied riffing, accented by Johan Langquist’s distinctive vocals, the EP reinforces the melancholy sound that has proven CANDLEMASS to be a heavy metal staple.
