Track Premiere: Ashenheart – “Empire of the Necromancers”

We at Noob Heavy are big fans of Ashenheart, the international deathened black metal project. In fact, we had the pleasure of hosting the exclusive streaming premiere of last year’s Faded Gold, the band’s acclaimed debut, and you can find that record in the top 20 of Westin’s Album of the Year article. So naturally, we jumped at the chance to bring you a sneak peak at Ashenheart‘s next release: Tales from Eternal Dusk, due out on April 18 with a cassette courtesy of Fiadh Productions.

We are thrilled to present “Empire of the Necromancers”, streaming here exclusively ahead of its digital release tomorrow, January 17. Fresh off the success of the Elden Ring-themed Faded Gold, Ashenheart have forged ahead into new lyrical and thematic territory, with concepts by multi-instrumentalist and founder Amanda Kauffman and lyrics by vocalist Alex Loach. Joining them this go round is new member Steve Wiener (Am I in Trouble?, Negative Bliss), whose contributions on keyboards in particular are a conspicuous addition to the proceedings. It’s a sinister, ominous experience, driving mercilessly forward with wickedly barbed riffwork, backing organ synth and keyboard flourishes, and gutwrenching howls. The final solo seems to probe, seeking in the darkness until it finds a crack, whereupon it shrieks into hellish tremolos and flies to the finish in tandem with Loach‘s screams.

But don’t just take it from us; click on the player below and get “Empire of the Necromancers” into your ears!
