Album Premiere: Ashenheart – “Faded Gold”

Today we’re happy to partner with Ashenheart and Syrup Moose Records to bring you the premiere of Faded Gold, Ashenheart‘s debut record, which is out this Friday! Read on for a quick to introduction to the album by our very own Westin, then click the player below to listen:

Dark Souls is arguably the most black metal video game of all time. A wretched world of monsters and false gods striving to suppress all life, against which one can only throw themselves into the deep and hope to come out with their soul unscathed. The series is well established in black metal, so it makes sense that its spiritual successor Elden Ring would eventually find a similar tomb within which to nestle. Ashenheart is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and song- and lyric-writer Amanda Kauffman, who is joined by vocalist Alex Loach.

Faded Gold is a wretched tapestry of atmospheric black and death metal, far meatier and heavier than you’d expect. Loach‘s raspy screech is not distant and cold but violently present and dripping with lifeblood like the very gods that walk among the living world of the Lands Between. Prepare to be relentlessly attacked by the dual bosses of Amanda‘s unrelenting axe and shield wall of drums. This album is a product of ten years of work, woven impressively around the themes of the newest entrant to an esteemed pantheon. To fell a god is a momentous achievement and a tragedy of it’s own, a shining thread snipped short of eternity to fade into naught but memory and Faded Gold

You can preorder Faded Gold digitally at Ashenheart’s Bandcamp.
