Album Review: Beneath The Massacre – Fearmonger 8 (Tech Deathcore)

2019 was the year of comebacks in the music world, we saw the returns of massive bands, cult favorites, and underground bands alike. This epidemic did not spare the deathcore scene, as we saw returns for bands we thought we’d never see again, like Annotations Of An Autopsy and And Hell Followed With. The whole year I was hoping we would see the return of the mighty Beneath The Massacre, and just when I thought it would never happen, on November 29th they announced their new album Fearmonger, and now it is finally here. […]

Album Review: Bodysnatcher – This Heavy Void 8.6 (Deathcore)

My home state, Florida, was a hub for death metal in the early 90s, with legendary bands like Death, Deicide, and Morbid Angel. Over the last decade, there has been a huge uprising of hardcore in the state as well, more specifically that new brand of hardcore that attaches elements of beatdown, metalcore, and deathcore to the sound. Every scene has a leader, a band who’s carrying the torch so to speak, and I thoroughly believe that band is Bodysnatcher here in Florida. […]

Album Review: Viscera – Obsidian 8 (Deathcore)

I’m a huge sucker for cool genre crossovers, I’m also a huge sucker for Unique Leader Records, so basically this record was made for me. Viscera are a new outfit formed just last year consisting of members from Heart Of A Coward, Martyr Defiled, and Nervecell. So, while the band is new, these guys definitely know what they’re doing! Their debut album “Obsidian” comes out on March 6th. […]

Album Review: Child Of Waste – Hunger Made Man 7.5 (Deathcore)

Deathcore is a very hit or miss genre, but when it hits, it hits hard. Some of my all time favorite metal records are of the deathcore genre. Chugcore is a pretty prominent underground core label that’s put out releases for some of the biggest modern names in the genre, like Shadow Of Intent, Vulvodynia, Within Destruction, and Acrania. I’ve decided to keep a closer eye on the label this year so I can get my core fill, and I’ve already found a gem! […]

Album Review: Krosis – A Memoir of Free Will 8 (Deathcore)

Hey guys, I’m back from my short break from Noob Heavy, and I’m coming back with a bang, and by a bang, I of course mean the new Krosis record! Krosis is a technical deathcore band that formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2014. On February 7th they are releasing their brand new record A Memoir Of Free Will on Unique Leader Records. As someone who had the privilege of hearing the record early, trust me when I say this isn’t one you’re going to want to miss. […]

Album Review: Wormhole – The Weakest Among Us (Deathcore)

Wormhole are a four piece technical death/Slam band coming out of Baltimore. Formed in 2015 the band have released one full length album with the second to be released early next year. At the heart of the band is the familial craftsmanship of the Kumar brothers, who along with the remaining members consist of live performers from bands such as Vulvodynia, Cognitive and Vale Of Pnath just to name a few. You can judge the full experience for yourself on the 14th of January via Lacerated Enemy Records. […]

Album Review: Xenobiotic – Mordrake 7.8 (Deathcore)

Here’s the perfect storm of pre-release bait for me – it’s an Australian tech death release featuring the artwork of Mariousz Lewandowski (I know how we all feel but this one’s really good). Xenobitoic are a tech deathcore band from Australia’s new metal mecca, Perth. Take a look at my Top 25 Australian Metal Releases article and drink every time I wrote Perth, then just drink recreationally. Mordrake releases on the 21st of February and features a couple of guests vocals that really make their tracks for me. Expect more of a scifi prog approach than a bunch of breakdowns – we’re telling a story here with an album of a higher brow. […]

Micro Dose: Earth Eater – Immortal (Deathcore)

Earth Eater are a pretty eclectic deathcore group, they tackle several styles, but it all comes together very well. That is probably pulled off due to the overall talent of all the members here, everyone is obviously extremely proficient with their instruments. There are parts of this that sound like slamming deathcore, and technical deathcore, and even metalcore, the track “Longclaw” even brought in some classical instrumentation. It’s produced very well, it sounds immaculate.

Micro Dose: Vulvodynia – Mob Justice (Deathcore)

So to end off the week, we have a band I never really saw myself talking about. Yeah, Vulvodynia just put out a really fucking good record. They’re one of the biggest, if not THE biggest name in slamming deathcore. They are super genuine guys, but for some reason the tunes never connected for me, but that has definitely changed with this new album. […]
