Carcassbomb's Reviews

Microdose: Hellripper, Clayshaper, White Crone, & Sallow Moth

Four great albums, four short reviews. The theme is solo visions, so people who through a lot of hard work put together their own album. They’re all highly creative people who put out quality music on their own terms, and often with the help of a friend or two. I’ve basically covered at least one solo project every dose and half of my reviews are of solo projects, I’m just drawn to them. […]

Album Review: Hellripper – Black Arts & Alchemy EP 9 (Speed Metal)

At this point I’m covering so many one man bands and it’s crazy the level of quality an individual can put out now. This guy has a bit of a history having released a slew of recordings over the past few years, a lot of which are well received. He’s clearly onto something. I’ll definitely be going back to check out the LP which holds a whopping 89% at the Metallum. This has 91% with less reviewers. Just for context, most of the time fully fledged and veteran bands get worse scores than this every day. There’s plenty of blackened speed metal here with zero compromise to the sound or intensity. Definitely check this one out. […]

All of the album covers I’ve credited in reviews or features on one page and linking to the artists socials/official site. This includes art research I’ve done for all the other writers reviews. Image goes to our review, caption has artist name and hyperlink. This is different from the Commissioning Artists page, the people here may not be open to random jobs. […]

Carcassbomb’s Top 25 Of 2019

What a year it’s been, well not quite a full year for me since Noob Heavy was officially born in March. It’s been an incredibly fast journey and I’ve seen a lot of milestones I honestly never once thought I would end up seeing. Starting primarily as a way to stave off all consuming depression of one person, Noob Heavy has developed into a diverse team of young writers each with a lot of love for underground and independent music. 1k readers blew my mind, the fact it’s reached 17k has been life changing and provided us with an opportunity to support bands in a meaningful way. […]

Aussie Metal Top 25 of 2019

This list isn’t pride in Australia as much as it is a list celebrating musicians who despite being Australians, managed to successfully create and distribute their music. There’s a lot of barriers to musicians here due to a fucked economy, poor employment availability and terrible telecommunications infrastructure. So these bands deserve praise and attention for having the ability to create potent art in this modern western culture, even at the risk of crippling debt, or even worse, no one hearing it. […]
