Just a short one to get this banger of a record into the archives. I should have given it a full review last year but this is one that’s grown on me since it came out. Now I pretty much listen to it weekly. It has a very specific sound that scratches a very specific itch. Much like Gojira‘s pick scrape technique, these guys utilize a riff signature that’s super sharp and generates the perfect atmosphere for moshing. This is crazy heavy shit.

Much like this years rush of good stoner doom, last year was pretty much metallic hardcore madness with a heap of good releases from a fairly new and insanely heavy genre. Last year alone was Jesus Piece, Converge, Code Orange, Sectioned, Mouthbreather and more, some of which I covered here.

It goes beyond metalcore because of the death/sludge influence on the vocals but it doesn’t follow the format of deathcore. It has elements of nu metal like Slipknot. Yet it all works in this constantly moving and unstable sound that hinges on a trademark tone. It’s a pretty unique blend of genres with the focus seemingly being as heavy as damn possible, regardless of what has to be done to make it happen. There’s also some slower moments that reminds me of early Nine Inch Nails, pretty good mix up considering how short this release is.

This is another record on Bandcamp where you can name your own price so may as well get on it and throw them what you can or what you think it’s worth. I’m adding it to my collection as soon as I can.

While I may have slighted america lately for it’s metal output, they are definitely the forerunners of metallic hardcore and sludge. This is a good one for fans of Sunrot and Body Void.

I don’t know anything about the album cover so if anyone can enlighten me then send me an email or a message on instagram.
